Va de Cuina is a gastronomic concept store and a retail boutique dedicated to traditional, homemade and local foods of Catalonia. For this new collaboration with chef Jordi Vila, head chef of Alkimia, Barcelona, we derived our inspiration from the honest materials and fresh ingredients for which the brand is known for. These natural elements in their pure state were translated into the interior of the space. The store has two main sectors, one is a gastronomic space where a variety of gourmet dishes made by the chef are available for takeaway and another part is a retail boutique where a curated selection of ingredients and local foods are being sold. The interior walls and flooring are imprinted with traditional knit weaves and meshes, finished with a protective resin. The wooden counter at the entrance is carved and shaped from a natural tree trunk preserving its natural and raw essence. The branding behind the counter hints toward what VA is all about, gourmet cooked meals, the cultural heritage of the Sarrià neighborhood and Vivanda restaurant by the same chef, that inspires the cuisine offered. The storefront serves to reflect the seasonality of the offering, where the shop display showcases the seasonal ingredients in an artistic way used in the products sold within.
