The urban development proposal for the Tuusulanjärvi Lake area in Finland aims to harmonise natural and artificial landscapes, inspired by the interconnected structure of water and land in Finland’s Lake District. The design incorporates “eco-formations,” including water-terracing systems that channel and purify rainwater, improving the lake’s ecological health and organising housing and services around these sustainable features.

The project seeks a zero-carbon footprint, utilising renewable energy sources like wind turbines and solar panels, bioclimatic buildings made from local, recyclable materials, and electric public transportation.
Pedestrian and cycling paths are prioritised to minimise the use of polluting vehicles. Public spaces, recreational areas, and innovative solutions for recycling, biomass heating, and noise management complete the design, creating a functional and environmentally friendly development that fosters a strong connection between residents and nature.
