Magok Waterfront marks a new era in urban Korea, blending nature and artificiality to create a sustainable space of coexistence.
Part of the Han River Renaissance Project, it redefines Magok’s identity through waterscapes, transport, and eco-formations. The design integrates water terracing, expansive wetlands, and recreational amenities, balancing ecology with urban life.
Key features include a River Barrage that transforms the bay into freshwater, with sluice gates, fish passes, and flood defenses, creating a controlled and vibrant waterfront. Wetlands along the lake edges serve as ecological buffers and transition zones, fostering a unique urban character.
Water quality is managed through oxygenation systems, salinity control, and debris removal, ensuring a thriving ecosystem. By harmonizing ecology, infrastructure, and recreation, Magok Waterfront establishes itself as a sustainable and distinctive urban destination.
